Abstract
The vast majority of North American Catholics live in the USA and Canada, countries in which Catholics constitute the single largest religious community. Bermuda was the last of the North American countries to host a Roman Catholic population. Women’s religious orders have also experienced fundamental changes, as number continue to drop. The credibility of the Catholic Church has shattered due to the numerous scandals relating to colonialism and sexual abuse. North American Catholics are also coming to terms with a history of anti-Black racism. However, immigrant Catholics represent adherents who are more committed to the practice of the faith than those born in North America, a population that the Church must seek to accommodate in its infrastructure.
