Abstract
Since 1608, France has had an official presence in Canada beginning with the first permanent settlement in Quebec City. Francophone Canada, as a result, describes a wide national influence, part of which includes Catholicism. However, the changing status of Christianity has occurred through a progressive erosion, as modern secularization has interrogated the place of religion in the public square. Christianity in Francophone Canada is faced with the opportunity to respond by way of renewal.
