Abstract
In North America, Pentecostal/Charismatic believers number 67 million and have distinguished themselves among the few Christian movements reporting growth. Yet despite their growth, North American Spirit-empowered Christians have not kept pace with the rest of the world. Hispanic churches in the USA and Canada have also seen significant growth. Among the primary reasons for the growth of Pentecostal/Charismatic churches is their experiential theology, as well as their more inclusive and egalitarian ecclesiology. However, while women have been empowered in such congregations, some Pentecostal denominations hold strong complementarian convictions that restrict them from leadership. Moreover, especially with significant growth, Pentecostal and Charismatic churches must reckon with racism within its ranks.
