Modern economic systems generate vast high-dimensional data across diverse environments, creating unprecedented opportunities for understanding economic mechanisms. Traditional econometric methods struggle with this complexity, conflating spurious correlations with causal relationships, causing catastrophic failures in new contexts. Existing machine learning approaches focus on prediction accuracy without distinguishing stable mechanisms from transient associations. This paper leverages Causal Representation Learning's invariance principle—that causal relationships remain stable while spurious correlations fluctuate across environments. We provide a unified framework connecting four CRL approaches, establish identifiability conditions, develop implementation guidelines, and demonstrate through e-commerce case studies that these methods identify stable relationships where traditional approaches fail with up to 3363% degradation, enabling robust economic decision-making.
