Abstract
Alakemijoen ihmisiä jokimuistoineen ja Nätti-Jussi -tarinoineen Ihmiset ovat kautta aikain halunneet asettautua asumaan jokien varteen, lähelle kulkuväyliä ja Ahdin antimia. Suomen pisin joki, Kemijoki, on jo vuosisatoja houkutellut ihmisiä virtansa varrelle. Kun joki valjastettiin sähköntuotantoon, monen jokivartisen elämä mullistui. Seija Ulkuniemi haluaa ”Jokivarteen juurtuneet” -valokuvanäyttelyllään antaa kirjaimellisesti kasvot muutamille jokivarren asukkaille. Hän kuvasi ja haastatteli kesän 2023 ja alkuvuoden 2024 aikana ihmisiä seitsemässä Alakemijokivarren talossa. Ulkuniemi etsi haastateltavia siitä sukupolvesta, jonka aikana Kemijoki on valjastettu. Hän aloitti lapsuuskylästään Jaatilasta ja siirtyi sitten nykyiseen kotikyläänsä Muurolaan. Lopuksi hän päätyi Ruikkaan, missä yli satavuotiaan Anna-Liisan kaksi poikaa osallistui äitinsä kanssa muisteluun. Ulkuniemi pyysi haastateltaviaan kertomaan Kemijokeen liittyviä muistojaan ja joen merkityksestä itselleen. Hän suunnitteli näyttelyn erityisesti Muurolan Nätti-Jussi -päiville, joten hän keräsi myös Nättiin liittyviä henkilökohtaisia tarinointeja.
