Abstract
Esta investigacion analiza los factores determinantes de la duracion del desempleo para los profesionales en las cuatro principales areas metropolitanas de Colombia segun la informacion de la Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares para el periodo 20082014 Se ofrecen analisis descriptivos y estimaciones econometricas a traves de regresiones cuantilicas con correccion del sesgo de seleccion y se realizan comparaciones especificas para las areas metropolitanas de interes Los resultados muestran que la edad no tiene un impacto significativo en la duracion del desempleo en los profesionales ademas la tenencia de hijos menores de seis anos y el estado marital son significativos para explicar la duracion del desempleo y de manera general en las mujeres profesionales la duracion del desempleo es mas persistente
