Abstract
This chapter introduces the author's connection to Rip Naquin and Marsha Delain, who invite him to write for <italic>Ambush Magazine</italic> in 2012, initiating both a lasting friendship and his deeper engagement with queer history. It highlights Rip and Marsha's legacy as founders of <italic>Ambush</italic> and cultural leaders who shape New Orleans' LGBTQ+ community through parades, fundraisers, and organizations. The chapter traces the author's personal journey into queer history, his enduring love for New Orleans, and his eventual move to the city, which inspires his writing, public speaking, and the founding of the LGBT+ Archives Project of Louisiana. It also recounts the survival of <italic>Ambush</italic> after Rip and Marsha's deaths, the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the author's contributions to <italic>French Quarter Journal</italic> . Finally, the chapter frames this anthology as a curated collection of essays that preserve and celebrate New Orleans' queer heritage.
