Enhancing Gemini for Mental Health Assessments
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The demand for psychiatric services due to increasing mental health awareness and a rising prevalence of its disorders shows a huge deficit in the number of practicing psychiatrists relative to patients. A human-centered AI-based conversational system (with the ability to administer intake assessment) for data collection and documentation can reduce consultation time by up to 66.6%, through automation. We formulated a pipeline that utilizes a large-language model to facilitate interview-style intake assessment and answered two research questions: a) how effective is the baseline (Gemini 1.5 Pro) model in diagnosing psychological health disorders? b) what strategies could be employed to improve its diagnostics accuracies? By fine-tuning Gemini 1.5 pro, results show that we can improve diagnostic accuracies of the baseline model from 38% to 70% for the case studies evaluated.
Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
