Ikan sebelah ( Psettodes erumei ) merupakan ikan demersal bernilai ekonomi penting dan berperan signifikan dalam produksi perikanan di Cilacap. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan secara rinci morfologi dan meristik ikan sebelah hasil tangkapan nelayan lokal selama Mei-Agustus 2025, menggunakan alat bottom gillnet dan trammel net. Urgensi penelitian ini terletak pada minimnya informasi tentang karakteristik ikan sebelah di Cilacap yang berpotensi mendukung validasi taksonomi, serta dasar kebijakan pengelolaan dan konservasi sumber daya ikan demersal. Parameter morfologi yang diamati meliputi bentuk tubuh, posisi mulut, letak mata, bentuk sirip, serta rasio morfometrik utama dengan analisis deskriptif, sedangkan karakter meristik mencakup jumlah jari-jari sirip dorsal, anal, dan pektoral berbasis statistik kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ikan sebelah memiliki tubuh pipih asimetris dengan kedua mata terletak pada sisi kiri tubuh, mulut terminal dengan bentuk agak serong, serta sirip dorsal memanjang dari atas mata hingga pangkal sirip kaudal. Ciri khas lain adalah warna tubuh bagian atas coklat keabu-abuan dengan bercak gelap tidak beraturan, sedangkan bagian bawah berwarna putih pucat. Rasio panjang standar terhadap panjang total berkisar antara 0,78–0,82, sedangkan tinggi tubuh terhadap panjang total sebesar 0,45–0,50. Jumlah jari-jari sirip dorsal tercatat 60–70, sirip anal 45–55, dan sirip pektoral 10–12. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa ikan sebelah di perairan Cilacap memiliki karakter morfologi yang konsisten dengan deskripsi umum spesies Psettodes erumei , namun terdapat variasi pada pola warna dan proporsi tubuh yang diduga dipengaruhi oleh kondisi habitat lokal.
