Ce texte explore la transformation du droit des renseignements personnels face aux revendications d’intérêt général. Il souligne un changement de paradigme où les renseignements personnels ne sont plus uniquement des droits de nature individualiste, mais également des vecteurs d’intérêt général grâce à leur utilisation accrue pour la recherche. Cette évolution entraîne une diversification du droit des renseignements personnels, où protection de la vie privée et utilisation secondaire deviennent complémentaires, promouvant l’innovation sociale. Toutefois, cette socialisation des renseignements personnels crée de plus grandes attentes en matière de confiance et d’acceptabilité sociale que le droit des renseignements personnels n’a pas encore pleinement intégrées. Cela remet également en question la capacité du droit des renseignements personnels à refléter fidèlement la profondeur de la relation que toute personne concernée entretient avec ses renseignements personnels.
