Abstract
Abstract This article reflects on the ways that the last three decades have expanded possibilities for the creation and distribution of independently made images. Digital frameworks have provided unprecedented levels of access for marginalized experiences; those that capital deems expendable are now documented, circulated, and archived. Moufawad-Paul’s notion of “pathological afterimages” identifies the stakes of this visual phenomenon and suggests ways that engagements with the political moment through curatorial projects can convey knowledge beyond narrative logic.
