Abstract
The current reality of the American people is becoming known more than ever through its multi-ethnic character. Native peoples in their contact with the rest of society have modified their experiences in various aspects, putting their identity and permanence in their natural habitat at risk. This article aims to explore the role that audio-visual self-production assisted by new technologies can play in the visibility of the identity values of settlements, as well as their relationship with the environment, acting as a denunciation and reversal. In particular, the world of video and self-produced cinema, which, thanks to globalization, has immense potential to improve knowledge of the indigenous environment, as it is demonstrated by certain initiatives. This process has matured in the 21st century towards national and international thematic productions, films and film competitions.
