Abstract
Despite being located north of the 42° parallel, a city of Río Negro called San Antonio Oeste uniquely experienced the Malvinas War: as part of theTeatro de Operaciones Sur and serving as the last stop of trains on the northern Patagonian coast, it became the seat of the Primera sección de abastecimiento, a group dedicated to providing care to hundreds of soldiers who passed through on their way to the south continental bases and the Malvinas Islands. Little is known about San Antonio's role and the experiences of the soldiers stationed there. Faced with this knowledge gap, and drawing on contributions from the Sociocultural History of the war, Regional History, and Recent History, we propose to reconstruct analyse the experiences of the Primera sección de abastecimiento’ conscript soldiers and the local residents of San Antonio Oeste during their stay in San Antonio during Malvinas’ war. The documentary corpus consists of government and military documentation, interviews with local residents and stationed soldiers, who provided their testimony, and personal archives.
