Abstract
Con motivo del bicentenario de Bolivia, el artículo es una revisión histórica del pueblo étnico de los guaraní-chiriguanos en la región de Cordillera (Chaco boliviano), desde la época de su enfrentamiento con los españoles y su reducción durante la Colonia hasta la relación traumática con el Estado boliviano y la Iglesia (misiones franciscanas) tanto en la independencia nacional como a fines del siglo XIX (sublevación de Kuruyuki de 1892). Finalmente se describe la presencia del pueblo guaraní-chiriguano durante la Guerra del Chaco y la Revolución de 1952, hasta finales del siglo XX, cuando a través de la Asamblea del Pueblo Guaraní (1986) se identificó como nación originaria parte del Estado boliviano.
