Cette étude brosse un portrait du rapport à la lecture des enseignants de français en formation au Québec. Un total de 174 enseignants a été sondé par questionnaire pour examiner leurs pratiques lectorales déclarées et leur appréciation de leur formation. Un tiers des répondants lisent peu ou pas et considèrent que la lecture ne fait pas partie intégrante du répertoire professionnel des enseignants de français. Un grand nombre d’entre eux estiment cependant que leur formation les prépare adéquatement pour la plupart des actions liées à l’enseignement de la lecture, avec des carences toutefois en ce qui concerne le développement du plaisir du texte chez les élèves.
