Cette étude s’est penchée sur le lien potentiel entre l’utilisation de diverses pratiques enseignantes et la motivation d’élèves du secondaire anglophone (ESA) du Québec à apprendre le français langue seconde (FLS). Nous avons donc, dans un premier temps, sondé des enseignant.e.s (n = 4) pour connaître leurs pratiques enseignantes du FLS au secondaire anglophone au moyen d’un questionnaire dans lequel les participant.e.s devaient positionner diverses pratiques enseignantes en premier, deuxième ou troisième choix. Les pratiques enseignantes ayant été choisies le plus souvent comme premier choix (et parfois celles ayant été choisies comme deuxième choix également) ont été retenues pour former le questionnaire destiné aux élèves. Puis, dans un deuxième temps, nous avons mesuré la motivation d’élèves de quatrième et de cinquième année du secondaire (n=28) à apprendre le FLS au moyen d’échelles de Likert (une échelle par pratique enseignante retenue) ayant pour items certains des items de la Roue de la motivation et de l’engagement de Martin (2007). Les résultats ont démontré que pour l’échantillon étudié, les pratiques enseignantes utilisées dans cette recherche n’ont pas d’impact significatif sur la motivation des ESA à apprendre le FLS.
