Abstract
Tanaostigmatidae includes 101 species in 8 extant genera. All members are phytophagous, mostly being associated with galls as either the gall-former or as inquilines, but a few as seed-eaters. The chapter provides a diagnosis and additional recognition features for the family, discusses historical concepts of relationships and higher classification, and summarizes distribution, biology and economic importance.
