Abstract
Stanovništvo je važan faktor razvoja zemlje jer je ono radna snaga koja dovodi do gospodarskog, ali i ekonomskog razvoja zemlje. Svaka negativna promjena u demografiji, utjecat će negativno na zemlju i njezin razvoj. Demografsko starenje stanovništva najdominantniji je, negativni proces suvremenog društva koji je obilježio i stanovništvo Republike Hrvatske. Na sebe vezuje mnoge probleme, gospodarske i ekonomske, a intenzitet tog procesa, ovisi o mnogim čimbenicima poput smanjenja vitalnih koeficijenata, stope nataliteta i mortaliteta, smanjenja stope fertiliteta i migracija gdje odlaze mladi, obrazovani građani stvarajući u Hrvatskoj konstruktivni tip dobno-spolne piramide. Osim starenja stanovništva, očekuje se da će na Hrvatsku negativno utjecati i prirodna depopulacija čak do 2100. godine.
