Abstract
Jelling Kirke udgør en væsentlig del af monumentkomplekset i Jelling, der i 1994 blev føjet til UNESCOs Verdensarvsliste. Kirken ligger midt mellem to græsklædte høje, umiddelbart ved siden af to runesten rejst af Kong Gorm og Kong Harald i 900-tallet. Som led i Nationalmuseets Jellingprojekt (2008-2016) blev stenkirken, dens arkitektoniske traditioner og dens kalkmalerier undersøgt. Kirken spiller en central rolle for overgangen fra den tidlige kristne tid til det fuldt udfoldede kirkelandskab i det middelalderlige Danmark.
