Since a vegetarian diet is rich in plant-based products, this diet is nutritionally low in calories, fat, saturated fatty acids, and cholesterol, and high in fiber and antioxidants. The entire distribution of these elements in a vegetarian diet has a positive effect on the body and helps to treat and reduce the risk of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, obesity, intestinal problems, which often prevail in the elderly group. According to the Dietetic Association of the United States of America and Canada and analyzed studies, it is decided that a properly planned and prepared vegetarian diet is healthy and safe for all age groups, including the elderly people. However, the elderly group requires more careful nutritional planning due to possible nutrient deficiencies, which are affected by both age and a vegetarian diet.
