1960 darbesi Türk siyasi tarihi açısından dönüm noktası olmuştur. 1960 darbesi ilk askeri darbe olarak anılmaktadır. Darbenin nedenleri arasında Türkiye’nin çok partili siyasi hayata geçinde DP hükümetinin başa geçmesi ile başlar. DP hükümetinin çıkardığı yasalar ve dikta yönetim anlayışı darbeye sürüklemiştir. Bu çalışmada Türk tarihinde 27 Mayıs 1960 darbesine giden süreci, darbenin arka planını ve tarihi etkileyen Türk basına yansımalarını, basına yansıyan toplumsal olayların etkililerini incelemeye çalışılmıştır.
