SUMMARY The relevance of the topic. Lower back pain is the health care problem in the whole world including Lithuania. This problem is faced by 80 % of the population. With the reference to the data of the United nations, World health organization and the Lithuanian Statistics department due to the ageing population and increasing risk factors this problem is growing and is likely to continue to increase. One of the safest and effective ways to treat this problem is physiotherapy in water which, as it was proven by reasearch, eases pain, enhances physical activity and improves the quality of life. The object of the final paper: The impact of physiotherapy in water on the lower back pain. The aim of the final paper: To assess the impact of physiotherapy in water on the lower back pain. The tasks of the final paper: 1. To assesss the impact of the physiotherapy in water on the intensity of the lower back pain. 2. To assess the impact of the physiotherapy in water on the movement amplitude of the chest-waist part of the spine and the static endurance of waist muscles. 3. To assesss the impact of the physiotherapy in water on the severity of dysfunction of the waist part of the spine. The characteristic of the final paper: With the permissions from the Bioethics commission and the head of the enterprise, in April and May of 2019 the research was conducted in the santorium- prophylactic of JSC „Rokškio sūris“. 14 women and 2 men suffering the lowe back pain without expansion to the limbs took part in the research. The subjects were assessed twice – on the 1st and the 14th days of the rehabilitation. It was assessed: the mobility of the spine using goniometry, the static endurance of waist muscles according to the McGill tests and the influence of back pain on subjects‘ functional state – Oswestry‘s disability index. The pain intensity was evaluated using the Visual Analogical Scale before and after each exercise session in water. The results of the research lead to the following conclusions: the physiotherapy in water procedures significantly decrease the pain intensity of the lower back pain and muscle disbalance, increase the static endurance of waist muscles and the movement of the chest-waist part of the spine, improve functional condition and reduce disability.
