Imotska krajina je prostor koji administrativno-teritorijalno obuhvaća 8 općina; Cista Provo, Lokvičići, Lovreć, Podbablje, Proložac, Runovići, Zagvozd, Zmijavci i Grad Imotski. Osnovni cilj rada je temeljem analize trenutnog stanja u prostoru (tj. prostornih, demografskih i gospodarskih pokazatelja) utvrditi demografske resurse i potencijale na području Imotske krajine. Glavni zadatak bio je napraviti demogeografsku analizu stanovništva Imotske krajine te razmotriti njegov utjecaj na regionalni razvoj užeg i šireg prostora. Suvremeni demografski razvoj Imotske krajine dominantno obilježava emigracija pretežito mlađeg stanovništva, negativna prirodna promjena te intenzivan proces senilizacije stanovništva. Polarizirani razvoj prati sve veće demografsko pražnjenje ruralne periferije Imotske krajine, što rezultira povećanim disparitetom regionalnog razvoja opterećujući budući razvoj regije.
