Abstract
本案例以中国智能手机品牌魅族从品牌创立、快速发展到逐渐没落的全过程为线索，主要讲述了创始人黄章的性格特征及他在魅族发展过程中所产生的影响。魅族，2002年由高中辍学的黄章创立，以优质的产品坐稳中国MP3市场头把交椅。2006年，黄章敏锐地察觉到MP3产品将随着智能手机的发展而淘汰，果断做出全面转产手机的决定。黄章对产品有完美主义的情怀，研发三年、推翻两代产品才最终推出首款手机M8；MX3的木制后壳原型甚至是黄章用刨子打造的31个模型中的一个。黄章是最早奉行粉丝经济和互联网营销的人之一，他本人也经常活跃在魅族论坛上与网友讨论技术问题。在山寨机横行的时代，黄章的“极客”精神帮助魅族的产品脱颖而出，获得了大量“煤油”的追随。然而随着智能机市场逐渐成熟、竞争加剧，魅族依旧在黄章的领导下奉行产品完美至上的战略，新品发布仍然保持一年一机的频率，难以赶上竞争对手的步伐；产品完全遵从黄章的个人体验，渐渐落后于时代主流：魅族走向没落。黄章是个怎么样的人？如何评价黄章在魅族发展中的功过？本案例可用以讨论个人特质对领导者个人及企业发展的影响。
