Abstract
Дисертацията е разделена в четири основни глави, които се предхождат от съдържание и увод. Първата глава представлява теоретичен обзор по темата. Тя е разделена на три точки, следвани от обобщение. В началото се разглежда феноменът на идеологическото противопоставяне и политическата поляризация, наблюдавани в САЩ. След това на фокус идват политическите партии в Канада и неуспешния им флирт с популизма. Накрая се прави кратък преглед на изказвания от българските учени по темата. Втора глава и трета глава разглеждат структурата на политическите сили в САЩ и Канада, като основните партии са разгледани подробно като история и позиции в спора по оста либерали и консерватори. Маркирани са и по-малките играчи, като е проследен ефектът, който те оказват върху изборите, попадащи в и около времевия период, разглеждан от дисертацията. В четвърта глава е направено сравнение между двете системи и различните причини за разликата, наблюдавана между двете съседни държани – културни, институционални, демографски, социални политики, партийни системи, като основната тежест пада върху медиите. Библиографията е разделена според типа цитирани източници – научна и научнопопулярна литература, публицистика, официални и популярни източници, литература на български език. Основната теза на дисертацията е, че канадските избиратели отхвърлят крайните течения в съвременната политика, докато американските, силно повлияни от медийния климат в страната, по-често гласуват за крайни кандидати, особено вдясно.
