Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Three experiments investigated whether the search for a target defined by color and stereoscopic depth is generally efficient (Nakayama & Silverman, 1986). Experiment 1 found that such a search conducted across two depth planes was inefficient. Experiment 2 showed that the efficiency of this search depended on the size of relative disparity. Experiment 3 investigated the effects of multiple depth planes on search efficiency. Although the search was inefficient, it was not more so than in Experiment 2. The implications of this research are discussed with regard to the viability of key theories in visual search.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
