“In a Different World”: Caregiver Learning in an EarlyON Child and Family Centre

Abstract
EarlyON Child and Family Centres in Ontario are family support programs attended by families with children from birth to age six, with the caregiver-child dyad participating together. EarlyON provides high-quality early learning for the child, however, less is said about the adult learning that occurs. Though caregivers have opportunities to engage in informal and non-formal learning, I focus on the informal learning in these programs, including learning empowerment and motivation, sociocultural theory, communities of practice, and the ecological systems model. I then explore these aspects as it pertains to EarlyON Centres specifically. Finally, I conclude with implications for praxis and policy.
