Abstract
This paper assesses whether accessibility to Canadian universities for students with less privileged backgrounds has increased over the last decade compared with those with more privileged backgrounds. Data from the National Graduate Survey for 1986, 1990, and 1995 graduates is analysed by parents' education level. The analysis looks at the backgrounds of university graduates compared to the number of Canadian children who would be eligible to attend university. The findings show that those from lower education backgrounds are underrepresented in our Canadian universities.
