Abstract
Las neoplasias gástricas en perros y gatos son reducidas, representando menos del 1% de todas las neoplasias. El plasmocitoma extramedular gástrico es un tumor de comportamiento maligno con baja frecuencia de aparición. Se ha comprobado que este tipo de neoplasia presenta una predisposición racial especialmente en los Cocker Spaniel y West Highland White Terrier. Así mismo se ha comprobado la predisposición por edad en pacientes de 7 a 10 años. Éste artículo reporta un caso clínico de una perra Golden Retriever de 9 años de edad, atendida en el Centro de Veterinaria y Zootecnia de la Universidad CES, con historia de vómito crónico persistente, refractario a los tratamientos convencionales. En los hallazgos radiográficos con medio de contraste se observó un vaciamiento gástrico retardado. La paciente fue sometida a laparotomía exploratoria por la cual se determinó la existencia del tumor que impedía el normal vaciamiento del estómago. El procedimiento quirúrgico realizado fue una gastroyeyunostomía que permitió la remoción total del tumor y de esta manera restablecer el tránsito del bolo alimenticio desde el estómago al intestino. El diagnóstico definitivo se obtuvo a través de histopatología, aunque también es posible acceder a él por medio de coloraciones específicas. El principal signo que orienta la necesidad de una biopsia es la cronicidad de la presentación clínica y los hallazgos al examen endoscópico. El objetivo de este manuscrito es documentar el caso, debido a su importancia clínica y a sus escasos reportes en medicina veterinaria, siendo el primero de este tipo en Colombia.
