Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The push for Canadian universities to include experiential learning in their courses, whether through federal funding initiatives or provincial funding models, has meant that post-secondary institutions have had to reconsider the ways their programs meet the needs of their students. While research has focused on the benefits of experiential learning, how to support university instructors in using experiential learning approaches in their teaching is often overlooked. To address this gap, this study investigated how university instructors perceive the values of their institutions and departments regarding teaching, and the kind of supports available to them. Perceptions were compared based on the instructors’ pedagogy, discipline and occupational status. This study offers insights into the instructors’ perceptions of teaching and suggests mechanisms institutions and departments can use to support instructors’ teaching.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
