Multicomponent diffusion in the system K2O-Na2O-FeO-MgO-TiO2-P2O5-Al2O3-SiO2
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Previous studies have successfully determined the multicomponent diffusion matrix [D] for melts analogous to real silicate magmas containing up to five components. This study presents the diffusion coefficients for a more complicated and geologically relevant nine-component basaltic melt at 1400°C and 1GPa. In general, the diffusion experiments exhibited the appearance of simple binary profiles with minimal diffusive coupling, as only eleven of the total fifty-six off-diagonal eigenvector components contained non-zero values. FeO and CaO, and to a lesser degree Na2O and K2O appeared to diffuse more readily against their concentration gradients, while the direction of uphill diffusion for FeO and CaO were always the same, yet opposite in direction to Na2O and K2O. The measured eigenvalues ranged from 7.10 x 10-11 m2.sec-1 corresponding to Al2O3 up to 4.91 x 10-10 m2.sec-1 corresponding to Na2O.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
