Antecedentes: La guadua (bambú) es uno de los materiales que se utiliza como material de construcción desde la antigüedad. Este es un recurso subutilizado ampliamente disponible en países con rápido desarrollo económico. En esta revisión se presentan el uso de la guadua (bambú) como elemento estructural, los estudios sobre el uso de conexiones en estructuras de guadua (bambú) desarrolladas en los últimos años, tanto a nivel mundial como en Colombia y algunos ejemplos de sus aplicaciones estructurales. Objetivo: permitir el acceso a la información publicada en revistas especializadas sobre las conexiones utilizadas en las estructuras de guadua (bambú). Conclusión: para lograr la sostenibilidad ambiental, es necesario que los ingenieros civiles conozcan la manera de utilizar la guadua (bambú), como material de construcción para viviendas y edificios, siendo necesario un mejor conocimiento de las conexiones disponibles.
