The association between asthma and dental caries in Canadian Aboriginal preschool children
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The literature suggests that asthmatic children may be at an increased risk for early childhood caries (ECC). Objective. To investigate the potential relationship between dental caries risk and asthma in a population of Canadian aboriginal preschoolers. Methods. Secondary analyses of oral health and health status data collected as part of an evaluative study of a community-based prenatal nutrition program for the prevention of ECC in the Sioux Lookout Zone. 471 Ojibway-Cree 2-5 year-olds were examined using the dmft/s index. A case of 'severe' ECC was defined as a child's dmft ge; 11. Health questionnaires were completed and asthma diagnoses were confirmed by reviewing the medical charts. Results. Asthma prevalence was 28.9% and 55% had S-ECC. Children with asthma were 1.85-times more likely (95% CI: 1.44-3.26, p=0.035) than those without asthma to have ECC. Conclusion. Asthma had a significance influence on the risk of caries in First Nations children.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
