Abstract
Por muchos años me tocó vivir y trabajar en la Parroquia Cristo Señor de la Vida, de la ciudad de Cali. Fui recogiendo en mi Diario una serie de historias llenas de ternura y dolor, de anhelos y frustraciones. Y las quise publicar antes de salir de la mencionada Parroquia. Pero este proyecto no se pudo llevar a cabo. Sin embargo, cuando estaba preparando un Informe que tenía que presentar a la Arquidiócesis de Cali, sobre la comunidad parroquial, se me vino la idea de dar a conocer la situación del lugar, desde sus mismas gentes. Y me di, entonces, a la tarea de entrevistar a varias personas, que en este libro cuentan en forma simple y sencilla su propia vida, pensando que ellas nos podrían dar muchas luces para apreciar lo que es el conjunto de los habitantes del "otro Cali", el marginado y muchas veces el discriminado Distrito de Aguablanca. El título del presente libro no viene al azar. Refleja la dulzura de la vida y los amargos sufrimientos del pueblo pobre, que no se conoce con suficiente hondura.
