Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This study examines the effect of spatial markets and other travel-related factors, including demographic, socio-economic, urban activity system, mobility and trip characteristics, on the travel mode choice patterns observed in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) between 1986 and 2001. The entire GTA is rezoned into twelve zones based on types of Toronto Transit Commission service coverage in that area. Results suggest a declining trend in transit mode share in most of the areas except around the Yonge subway line. Three findings may explain this phenomenon: (1) It is the only region that shows a stagnant trend in licenced drivers of both genders. (2) Home-based school trips have increased since 1991. (3) There is relatively low availability of free parking spots within the area. Coupled with fast development of high-density residential buildings, the transit competitiveness is expected to remain around the Yonge subway area in the near future.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
