Women's Cardiovascular Health and Cardiac Rehabilitation: A Priority Setting Partnership

Abstract
Background: In Canada, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major contributor to prematuredeaths in women. Unfortunately, following a cardiac diagnosis women are less likely to complete cardiac rehabilitation (CR) – a risk reduction program that can enhance and maintain cardiovascular health through individualized programming. Objective: Engage Canadian people with lived and living experience (PWLLE) of CVD and clinicians to identify and prioritize research questions specific to CR for women. Methods: A James Lind Alliance priority setting partnership was conducted. Results: Survey one collected 1347 CR submissions from 172 people living in Canada, where 715 submissions were in-scope and distilled to 52 summary questions. In survey two, 250 Canadians shortlisted the 52 summary questions. PWLLE and clinicians (N = 22) participated in a workshop and identified the top 10 priorities. Conclusion: These shared research priorities will inform the agenda for future research and contribute to patient centered care for women in CR.
