Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

"De-Centering Colonial Schooling: Towards Reforming Indigenous Education" delineates the complexities surrounding Indigenous knowledge and education. It does this through examining an educational reform initiative that attempts to re-centre Indigenous knowledge in education from colonial schooling practices in Alaskan village communities. It (a) unravels the complexities of the term Indigenous knowledge through assessing the various modes of production that are a part of making up the social formation of Alaska Native villages; (b) examines the historical factors that are responsible for the subjugation of Indigenous knowledge in Alaskan Native village schools since 1784; and (c) explores the Alaska Rural Systemic Initiative as an educational reform initiative that attempts to address the contemporary juncture of local needs and state educational standards in Alaskan village communities. Such an examination aspires to inform educational reform in the Canadian North and in international contexts.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
