Abstract
Se realizó un estudio descriptivo del comportamiento de la intoxicación aguda por plaguicidas en el departamento de Cundinamarca, tomando como base, los casos notificados como evento 360 al SIVIGILA, durante el periodo comprendido entre el año 2010 al 2013. Dentro de los resultados se obtuvo, que el principal tipo de exposición a estas sustancias corresponde a intencional suicida, con el uso de carbamatos, ocupando el 40% del total de los casos notificados, por vía oral en pacientes con edades entre los 15 a 24 años de edad, predominando el sexo masculino y siendo el 98% paciente vivo después de la intoxicación, los meses con el mayor número de eventos corresponde a enero, febrero, Julio y noviembre y los municipios con la mayor notificación corresponde a Soacha, Fusagasugá y Facatativá, adicionalmente, aproximadamente el 50% del departamento presenta silencio epidemiológico, dificultando la posible implementación de intervenciones en favor de la comunidad . Esto demuestra la necesidad de capacitación continua a las unidades primarias generadoras de datos y la necesidad de implementación de estrategias que estén dirigidas principalmente a programas de salud mental de forma preventiva y correctiva.
