Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Estrogen plays a crucial physiological role in male reproductive function; however, exposure to exogenous estrogens can adversely affect male fertility. Infertility affects approximately 15% of couples worldwide, with male factors contributing to about 20% of cases. Endocrine disruptors such as Bisphenol A and Diethylstilbestrol, acting as external sources of estrogen, have been associated with reduced semen quality and impaired fertility. This review examines the influence of exogenous estrogens on gene expression of estrogen receptors ERα, ERβ, and GPR30 in male reproductive organs. Existing studies reveal conflicting findings, highlighting the complex and multifaceted effects of exogenous estrogens. Further research is needed to clarify whether these compounds stimulate or inhibit receptor gene expression, and whether their effects are dose-dependent or non-linear. Understanding these mechanisms is essential for addressing male infertility related to environmental and pharmaceutical estrogen exposure.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
