La situation du homard d’Amérique (Homarus americanus) dans la zone de pêche du homard (ZPH) 41 a été évaluée pour la dernière fois à l’automne 2017 (MPO 2018; Cook et al. 2017) et des mises à jour annuelles ont été effectuées les années suivantes (MPO 2019, MPO 2020a et MPO 2021). La présente mise à jour applique les indicateurs primaires de l’évaluation de 2017 à l’état du stock pour la saison de pêche 2021. Les relevés du Northeast Fisheries Science Centre (NEFSC) n’ont pas été effectués en 2020, et les activités des entreprises d’observateurs en mer ont été restreintes ou limitées en raison de la pandémie mondiale de COVID-19, entraînant des données manquantes ou limitées en 2020. Les données de relevé et l’information sur les prises accessoires ont été mises à jour dans la mesure du possible. Les indicateurs concernant le homard de la ZPH 41 sont conformes à l’approche de précaution de Pêches et Océans Canada (MPO) et permettent les activités d’évaluation et de surveillance de la pêche hauturière du homard. La présente réponse des Sciences découle du processus de réponse des Sciences régional du 22 octobre 2021 sur la mise à jour de l’état du stock de homard d’Amérique dans la zone de pêche du homard (ZPH) 41.
