Abstract
SLICE® est l’un des agents chimiothérapeutiques utilisés pour lutter contre les infestations de poux du poisson dans les installations aquacoles de poissons marins au Canada. De nombreux groupes d’intérêt sont préoccupés par l’absorption par des organismes non ciblés de son ingrédient actif, le benzoate d’émamectine (BE), ainsi que par les effets potentiels du benzoate d’émamectine sur les organismes non ciblés. On a mesuré la quantité de benzoate d’émamectine, en parties par billion (p.p. 1012), dans des échantillons d’eau prélevés à proximité immédiate de deux fermes salmonicoles en Colombie-Britannique après le traitement avec SLICE®. Le benzoate d’émamectine a également été décelé en parties par milliard (p.p. 109) dans des échantillons de sédiments et dans les tissus musculaires de crevettes tachetées capturées dans un rayon de 150 m du parc en filet. Les concentrations de sédiments étaient liées aux conditions océanographiques propres à chaque site. On a constaté la présence de benzoate d’émamectine dans les sédiments jusqu’à un an et demi après le traitement avec SLICE®. Les effets sublétaux potentiels du benzoate d’émamectine sur la crevette tachetée ont été examinés dans une série d’expériences d’exposition en laboratoire. Les résultats permettent de penser que l’exposition à court terme au benzoate d’émamectine peut avoir des effets sur ce crustacé non ciblé.
