Abstract
Les responsables du Programme de protection du poisson et de son habitat (PPPH) de la région de l’Ontario et des Prairies ont demandé un avis scientifique sur les approches pouvant servir à définir les schémas de classification et les seuils connexes pour les rapports sur l’état du poisson et de son habitat dans deux zones prioritaires, soit la région des Grands Lacs inférieurs et la région du versant est en Alberta. Un avis scientifique sur la quantification et l’évaluation de l’état du poisson et de son habitat dans ces zones a été également été demandé. Le présent document décrit les approches pouvant servir à élaborer des schémas de classification, notamment des systèmes fondés sur i) les relations fonctionnelles avec les objectifs de gestion, ii) les seuils établis, iii) le classement relatif, et iv) la sollicitation d’expertise. Un arbre de décision pour la sélection parmi les approches, fondé sur la disponibilité de différents types d’information, est présenté. De plus, nous examinons la manière dont l’information tirée de multiples paramètres peut être synthétisée dans les rapports sur l’état des indicateurs généraux et dont les schémas de classification peuvent être établis en ce qui concerne la qualité des données dans les rapports sur l’état du poisson et de son habitat. Enfin, les principales inconnues liées à l’élaboration de schémas de classification sont également analysées.
