La exportación de calzado en Bucaramanga - Colombia, se ha convertido en una de las alternativas del mercado, para que las empresas de este sector aumenten sus ventas y por lo tanto se incremente el empleo en la región.1 A finales de la década pasada, la producción de calzado nacional abastecía el mercado interno; a raíz de la apertura comercial y la globalización del comercio, la situación ha cambiado radicalmente, las importaciones se incrementaron de tal forma, que ahora existen cientos de proveedores de calzado en el mercado colombiano, principalmente de países como China, Brasil y Vietnam.2 Esta situación ha hecho que los fabricantes nacionales vuelquen su interés en el mercado externo, principalmente por sus altas demandas de calidad y prelación por la comodidad. Canadá, un mercado de más de 36 millones de habitantes con crecimiento de demanda en calzado estimada en 4,6%, surge como una alternativa comercial para el calzado de origen nacional.3 Esta situación genera un potencial de mercado que será explorado y dimensionado a través de la presente investigación.
