Abstract
Este artículo es el capítulo final del más famoso libro del paladín del nuevo optimismo, titulado Los ángeles que llevamos dentro: el declive de la violencia y sus implicaciones (2011). Natural de Montreal (1954) y profesor Johnstone de Psicología en la Universidad de Harvard, ha sido en dos ocasiones finalista del Premio Pulitzer. Para propósitos académicos, se ofrece en versión abreviada a los lectores de la Revista de Santander, en la traducción española que hizo Joan Soler Chic para la editorial Paidós de Barcelona, pues sintetiza toda su extensa argumentación en favor de las razones por las cuales debemos tener una perspectiva optimista en nuestros días.
