La abundancia de pasivos mineros en Colombia y la limitada disponibilidad de tecnologías sostenibles para tratar drenajes ácidos de mina (DAM), más allá de las técnicas convencionales de neutralización, motivaron esta investigación. El estudio se desarrolló en cinco etapas, iniciando con una metodología heurística para seleccionar una planta de tratamiento pasivo modelo, identificando teóricamente a la planta Cadillac Molybdenite (Quebec, Canadá) por su eficiencia en remoción de hierro (99.1%), pocas etapas de tratamiento (4) y bajo costo (61.7 USD/m²). Se caracterizaron cinco residuos industriales (escorias negras, blancas, polvo de acería, calamina y cenizas volantes) mediante difracción de rayos X, fluorescencia de rayos X, microscopia electrónica de barrido con espectroscopía de energía dispersiva de rayos x(SEM-EDS). A través del test ácido-base (ABA) y el procedimiento de lixiviación con características de toxicidad (TCLP), se identificaron las escorias como las de mayor potencial neutralizante (600 kg CaCO₃/t) y, junto con las cenizas volantes, como no peligrosas. Ensayos de contacto sólido-líquido con una solución sintética representativa del DAM local mostraron remociones de metales cercanas al 100%. Se realizaron pruebas en columnas, analizando pH, conductividad y potencial redox. Los residuos fueron aglomerados por peletización (75% escoria negra, 25% ceniza volante) y evaluados nuevamente con DAM real, observándose cambios en Ca y Fe mediante SEM-EDS. Mediante simulaciones en Phreeqc se interpretó el comportamiento geoquímico del sistema y se propuso un mecanismo de interacción material filtrante–DAM. Finalmente, el material fue evaluado como sustituto del cemento (20%) según la norma técnica colombiana NTC 220, alcanzando 96.67 kg/cm² de resistencia a compresión a los 14 días. El estudio propone una alternativa sostenible de remediación bajo economía circular.
