En esta investigación se evalúan dos configuraciones de bombas de calor para suplir el requerimiento energético en sistemas de enfriamiento de 50 hogares en Barrancabermeja. Esto contribuye al protocolo de Montreal para a proteger la capa de ozono, a su vez se alinea a los compromisos del país hacía energías más limpias, reduciendo las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero, como lo es el CO2. Se plantean objetivos específicos como caracterizar, diseñar conceptualmente una bomba de calor, el cual contemple las heurísticas de diseño y se complemente con simulaciones en Aspen Hysys, y la evaluación del proyecto desde los resultados técnicos obtenidos anteriormente y a través de indicadores financieros como VPN, TIR, ROI y Payback. Los resultados indican que el proyecto se alinea técnicamente con todos los requerimientos y las iniciativas de transición energética, donde a su vez muestra un ahorro económico al emplear estos sistemas de refrigeración centralizada. Se resalta la importancia de seleccionar una adecuada configuración de la bomba de calor dependiendo de los requerimientos de cada caso, asi como el uso del fluido del proceso adecuado para obtener operaciones optimas, los cuales en este caso fueron R450a y R600a.
