実行機能(executive function)やワーキングメモリ(working memory)などの高次認知課題には、個人の比較的安定した認知制御特性が反映されていると従来想定されてきた。この前提に基づき、トレーニングを通じてその特性を高めようとする試みも数多く行われてきた。そうしたトレーニングの転移効果が限定的であるということが報告される一方で、近年では、実行機能やワーキングメモリは、その時々の環境的文脈に応じて即座に、かつ柔軟に変化するダイナミックな機能であることが明らかになりつつある。さらに、場面に応じて設定する認知的方略によっても機能が変化することが示されている。そのため、高次認知課題の成績には、従来の想定を超えた多様な要素が反映されている可能性がある。本シンポジウムでは、実行機能やワーキングメモリといった心の働きの制御に関わる心的機能が、課題文脈の学習や制御にかかわる方略の獲得を通じて、いかに適応的かつ柔軟に変化するかについて、3名の話題提供者から最近の研究知見を報告していただく。話題提供の後には、こうした心の働きの制御を包括的に理解するための議論の機会を提供する。
