Abstract
El plano social y cultural de las ciudades se basa a menudo en la distribución de las clases más modestas en el entramado urbano y en el modo de vida que sobre él han creado. La lógica del mercado inmobiliario ha alentado, especialmente desde hace medio siglo, una apropiación de los espacios históricos por funciones e individuos que desplazan los últimos colectivos de poblaciones tradicionales. La apropiación de la centralidad, pero también de los símbolos y de los espacios de representación urbanos, está dando un vuelco a la composición social de muchos centros históricos. En Sevilla, ciudad en la que los corrales y otros inmuebles de vivienda modesta en torno a patio han supuesto durante buena parte de la etapa contemporánea el lugar en el que vivían las clases proletarias, observa un proceso de desplazamiento de estas clases que ya se encuentra en los últimos estados y que no es mitigado por los documentos de protección patrimonial.
