Le but de cette thèse consiste à analyser une production artistique à partir de l'expérience du réel dans l’art, et à dire la couleur dans la peinture, la couleur manufacturée (non peinture) et la couleur artistique (peinture). Elle s’est développée à partir du tissu de madras dans l’espace caribéen, avec pour points d’ancrage la mémoire personnelle et les expériences vécues de d’enfance. L’œuvre picturale, dans le rapport dialectique peint/non-peint, est basée sur la dé-figuration du madras qui est le support de la peinture, sa déconstruction et sa reconstruction par Pacte de peindre, et prend en compte la question de l’espace pictural et sa redéfinition dans un sens plus large : espace peint, espace non-peint, espace d’exposition, espace vécu, espace habité. Mémoire du madras est une création qui est née à partir d 'une déchirure sociale, culturelle, d’une rupture avec un lieu, une origine. Elle permet la création d’une nouvelle « peau », d’une nouvelle toile métissée, métaphore, en un sens, d’un rapport au monde, et d’une manière penser le monde contemporain dans le contexte de la globalisation et de la mondialisation culturelle. Avec comme sous-titre poétique de la relation, cette thèse prend pour base de réflexion, la pensée en « Relation » d’ Edouard Glissant, et questionne des notions liées à la Créolisation et au métissage : culture, identité culturelle, multiculturalisme ; elle pose la question du métissage dans l’art et de l’objet métis.
