Barcelona comparteix amb altres "ciutats globals" el fenomen de la gentrificació, un procés on barris o zones tradicionalment desafavorides experimenten un increment d'inversions i l'arribada de ciutadans de major poder adquisitiu, ja siguin autòctons o estrangers. Dins d'aquest marc, i davant la seva estesa percepció com un fenomen de mercat, aquest Treball de Fi de Grau explora el paper de les administracions públiques i, més concretament, dels programes de renovació urbana en el sorgiment de la gentrificació. En aquest sentit, s'elabora un estudi de cas d'un barri de Barcelona, el Poble Sec, on el procés s'ha donat d'una forma recent i accelerada.
